The old Cottam Hall Brickworks closed in 1960 and has lain derelict and undeveloped for nearly half a century.

A new proposal now plans to regenerate this unused land by creating a nature reserve, a marina, new housing, shopping facilities, a care home and offices.

The proposal will form part of Preston City Council's desire to improve this part of the City.

The Council produced an Interim Planning Statement in June 2006 titled the ‘Cottam Development Area’ which includes the need to regenerate the former Cottam Hall Brickworks site and the creation of a new centre to serve the area.

This website tells you more about the plans. At this stage, apart from the Tesco foodstore, the proposals for the rest of the site are in outline with all matters except access reserved for future determination. As a result, the layouts are shown for indicative purposes only.
